Flügger Andelen: Record amount of payments to voluntary organisations
The renovation boom in 2020 has led to a record amount of bonus support granted to local associations and teams across the country, with the Flügger Andelen loyalty programme awarding NOK 681,720 to over 700 recipients. “This is a welcome contribution when many other income sources have fallen away during the pandemic,” says Flügger Norway’s Steffen Eide.

All customers who are members of an association enrolled in the Flügger Andelen scheme receive a 20 per cent discount on paint, tools and anything else that they might need when carrying out renovation work. The organisation, team or association receives an additional bonus of five per cent of the total purchase amount. Flügger Andelen was established in 2017 and is free to join. The concept has been a huge success, and this year generated NOK 681,720 in direct payments to more than 700 Norwegian associations enrolled in the scheme.
Good discounts
“It’s a fantastic sum, and we’re very proud of the concept. It is particularly good this year, as many associations have experienced financial losses during the pandemic. A large chunk of their revenue base fell away as café sales, tournaments, car boot sales and other events have not been possible,” explains Steffen Eide, Concept Manager for Flügger Norway’s Flügger Andelen charitable scheme.
“It has been good to see how our Flügger stores have developed close partnerships with their local sports teams and associations since the start of the programme in 2017. These collaborations are a win-win for our stores and the programme members. There is no doubt that the Flügger Andelen concept is here to stay. This is evidenced by the fact that concept has now flown Norway’s borders, as Flügger Sweden and Flügger Denmark have both also launched their own Flügger Andelen schemes. There has been a good response in both countries,” adds Rolf Gjølberg, Country Manager for Flügger Norway.
Flügger Andelen is open to sports clubs, associations and voluntary organisations, and offers good discounts to their members in all Flügger stores. Customers who register their purchases on their association’s membership account at their local Flügger Farve store receive a 20 per cent discount on the shelf price. When the year is over, the association receives an additional five per cent of the total spend as a bonus.
Happy to provide support
Over the course of three years, Flügger Andelen has paid out almost NOK 1.5 million to support football clubs, non-profit organisations, school orchestras, Red Cross branches, local craft groups, and many others.
“We are really pleased to be able to support many of the sports teams and associations that are members of Flügger Andelen. The largest payouts to individual recipients have been in excess of NOK 25,000. We are very busy right now calling all the associations to let them know about how much money is winging its way to them. There is something very special about being able to call the Hospital Clown Organization, the Children’s Cancer Association, the Childhood Cancer Foundation and Red Cross branches, who provide fantastic support every single day to those most in need of it,” says Steffen Eide.
